Princess Anne 'knew Meghan Markle had a short shelf-life' after her reaction to what royal life entailed, expert claims | The Sun

PRINCESS Anne predicted Meghan Markle would have a “short shelf-life” as a member of the royal family, an expert has claimed.

While the American Suits star tied the knot with Prince Harry in 2018, the couple did step back from royal duties in 2020 and moved to California.

Royal expert Neil Sean made the claim of the Princess Royal, and said when the two women first met, “Anne gave very sage advice to the new royal.”

Speaking on his YouTube channel, he said: “This senior royal takes no nonsense, much like her father the late Duke of Edinburgh.”

He said Anne told Meghan that she should view royal life as a “job” rather than a route to being famous.

Neil claims Meghan “left the meeting dumbfounded.”

He added: “She [Anne] does endless amounts of engagements. She turns up, does the job and does not seek the limelight.

“Princess Anne reiterated this mantra, she pointed out that it wasn’t a working monarchy, it was a job, you turn up on time, you do your research, and do the duty.”

Neil claims Meghan “failed to warm” to Anne, and the Princess Royal believed that the actress’ days as a working royal were limited.

Princess Anne is famously one of the hardest working royals in the family.

In 2022 she racked up the most royal engagements, undertaking 214 working events.

King Charles came second with 181, with Prince William fifth with 126 and Kate Middleton ninth with 90.

Royal commentator Jennie Bond told OK! Magazine this year how Princess Anne was left “furious” with Prince Harry after he slammed his family in his bombshell memoir Spare.

Jennie claimed: “I’m sure she is angry at the damage he’s done to the royal reputation because she works so hard.

“She says what she thinks, she doesn’t pretend anything.”

Princess Anne is the second child and only daughter of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip.

She was the first member of the Royal Family to ever compete in the Olympic Games when she represented Britain in 1976.

This came after she won a gold medal in 1971 and two silver medals in 1975 at the European Eventing Championships.

Most of her charity work has to do with sports, sciences, people with disabilities and health in developing countries.

Princess Anne was married to Mark Phillips from 1973 to 1992.

The pair divorced each other in 1992 and later that year, Princess Anne tied the knot with Timothy Laurence.

Princess Anne had two children with Mark Phillips – Peter and Zara.

Anne declined titles for her children after she was given the choice of adding an HRH status to their name.
