The conference, hosted by Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC), aims to increase the visibility and knowledge of cancer in Spain’s society.

It comes as the Spanish royals were last month spotted rubbing shoulders with tourists in Palma de Mallorca.

Queen Letizia was pictured alongside husband King Felipe VI and their two daughters, Princesses Leonor, 16, and Sofia, 15, strolling through the historic Balearic island capital.

The family, who traditionally spend their lengthy holiday at Almudaina Palace, their official summer residence on the Balearic island, had been seen on several occasions stepping out in Palma.

Queen Letizia on one occasion cut a stylish figure as she opted for a stylish white shirt with pinstriped blue and white belted shorts for the outing, appearing relaxed as she walked alongside her eldest daughter, Leonor.

The elegant European royal accessorised her look with a £58 Ikat Tote bag in blue and white and a pair of flat £110 Logo espadrilles with a traditional jute sole. A pair of £160 sunglasses finished the look.

Princesses Leonor, the next heir to the Spanish throne, and younger Sofia – who now both tower over their mother – opted for pretty patterned summer dresses by Spanish brands, teamed with traditional Spanish espadrilles.

The sisters are reunited for the summer, with Leonor returning from her UK boarding school to enjoy an extended family vacation on the Spanish island.

King Felipe opted for a relaxed pale blue polo shirt and beige chino shorts as the family walked down Carrer de Colom, a stone’s throw from the city’s famous cathedral.
