Vogue Australia seemingly removed a line from their feature on Phoebe Bridgers that referred to Paul Mescal as the singer’s “former fiancée.”

The original profile, which was published on Tuesday, included a sentence that read in part, “She’s rooting for former fiancée ‘Mr. Paul Mescal in Aftersun’ at the upcoming Oscars, ‘for sure.’”

Eagle-eyed fans noticed that the line stayed the same in the updated version of the digital article, though “former fiancée” had been nixed.

Many people on social media took the tweak to be confirmation that Bridgers, 28, and Mescal, 27, had broken up after months of speculation.

“oh my f–king god the vogue article clearly said former fiancée … its really over for paul and phoebe …” one fan tweeted.

“vogue referring to paul in phoebe’s interview as her ‘former fiancée’ isn’t a good sign i fear,” another avid fan wrote.

However, other fans pointed out that the phrase was not in quotation marks in the article, meaning that the “Scott Street” singer did not refer to Mescal as that herself and that Vogue editorially added the phrase.

Vogue Australia has not commented on the editorial change nor did they immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment. We also reached out to reps for Bridgers and Mescal, though their clients have been remaining tight-lipped on any split speculation.

The “Motion Sickness” songstress and the “Normal People” actor have found themselves at the center of breakup reports over the last few months.

Mescal furthered speculation after he was photographed chatting with Angelina Jolie in early January. Meanwhile, Bridgers also contributed to the rumors when she shared her advice for getting over a “heartbreak.”

“You just have to do it,” she told Amelia Dimoldenberg on a December episode of “Chicken Shop Date.” “And it’s gonna end at some point but you can’t make it end, that’s my tip.”

The two initially sparked dating speculation after they were spotted on a romantic vacation together in London in August 2020. They later confirmed their relationship when they made their red carpet debut at the LACMA Art+Film Gala in November 2021 and went Instagram-official one month later.

Fans began to worry that the lovebirds had called off their rumored engagement when Bridgers began hanging out with comedian Bo Burnham. A photo of her kissing The 1975 member Matt Healy with Burnham closing his eyes behind them also didn’t halt the breakup rumors.
