AINSLEY, 24
VITAL STATISTICS
Single for six months.
CURRENT ROLE
Account Executive in PR.
WOULD LIKE TO MEET
Someone who is open‑minded, creative, intelligent and kind. I’m not attracted to people who are snobby or posh.
Relationship History
My most recent long-term relationship lasted for a year. Prior to that, I had one other serious relationship for a couple of years. I sometimes use dating apps, but I love to meet people socially as it’s easier to judge the chemistry.
Pre-Date Nerves?
No, I always look forward to meeting someone new.
First Impressions?
Harmony is a good-looking guy with a lovely smile, and he was polite and warm — he gave me a big hug. I was relieved he wasn’t someone I wanted to run a mile from.
Easy To Talk To?
We had a good chat about spirituality, although I did feel I was driving the conversation, asking him more about his life than he was about mine. I admire that he works with people in the mental health field.
He has great energy — although he does get up at 4am every morning to meditate, work out and talk to the sky, which I simply can’t imagine as I like to sleep in.
AINSLEY’S VERDICT: 7/10
LIKED? Harmony is creative and kind.
REGRETS? No.
COFFEE OR CAB? Cab.
We’re both creative — he makes music and I’m into acting — but it would have been nice if we had a bit more in common.
Embarrassing Moments?
He did ask me to take lots of photos of him around the restaurant. He also wore sunglasses throughout the date because he said it was too bright. He asked me first if I minded, but it was still an odd move.
Did Sparks Fly?
Not from my point of view. It was less flirtatious than other first dates, and there wasn’t really any teasing or banter. He told me I had nice eyes but it didn’t feel like flirting as such. Maybe it’s my Canadian sense of humour but my jokes seemed to fall a bit flat, too. I’m inclined to make cheeky comments whereas he took himself a little more seriously.
Would you like to meet again?
We haven’t spoken since, although I did see he posted photos of his meal on Instagram. I don’t think we would meet on romantic terms, but if our paths crossed I’d chat to him as he’s a lovely guy with big dreams.
What do you think he thought of you?
I found Harmony hard to read. I think he enjoyed the date, but I’m not sure he thought I was the girl for him.
Would your family and friends like him?
They would definitely be happy to get to know him, but I think they’d know he wasn’t a fit for me.
HARMONY, 23
Harmony, 23, (pictured) has been single for two years
VITAL STATISTICS
Single for two years.
CURRENT ROLE
Fashion stylist.
WOULD LIKE TO MEET SOMEONE
who is ambitious, passionately chasing their dreams and with a good heart and a beautiful soul.
Relationship History
I’ve been in three longishterm relationships: two here in the UK, for six and three months respectively, and one back in Nigeria, where I was born, which was for about a year.
Pre-Date Nerves?
The closer I got, the more nervous I became. But I immediately relaxed when I saw Ainsley. I usually dress smartly, but since it was a date I opted for smart-casual and went with grey jeans and a white hoodie.
First Impressions?
Although she was attractive, I initially wondered if she was my type — but her Canadian accent sparked my interest.
Easy To Talk To?
Ainsley is a great conversationalist. I chatted about believing in yourself and digging deep, and she seemed to relate to that. With religion, you look outside — but spirituality teaches you to look within. We laughed a lot and it felt free and easy. She’s social, knows what to say and makes jokes. I liked her choice of food, too, she encouraged me to try truffle fries, which were very good.
HARMONY’S VERDICT: 8/10
LIKED? Her accent, eyes and her passion for life.
REGRETS? No.
COFFEE OR CAB? Coffee.
Embarrassing Moments?
Thankfully, no.
Did Sparks Fly?
Yes, I think we were flirting. We both have an interest in fashion so she helped me take some pictures on the date, and I thought by her facial expression things went well. I’m not a naturally flirty person but I speak as I feel, so I complimented her on her eyes.
We swapped our Instagram details and had a hug goodbye at the station.
Would you like to meet again?
I would. I think she was an interesting woman, smart and passionate about what she does.
She wasn’t superficial either, thank goodness.
When I was younger, I was attracted to looks and materialistic things, but as you get older intelligence and connection are more appealing.
What do you think she thought of you?
I hope she feels the same way. We got on well.
Would your family and friends like her?
If my friends thought I liked her, they would, too. But my family would be more interested in who she was.
