You can now shop makeup setting sprays with SPF protection from just £8

There’s nothing worse than applying a full face of makeup, only to get halfway through the day and realise that you need to top up your suncream (and yes, you do need to top it up!).

With your SPF needing topped up every two hours to maintain its protection of your skin, that leaves you faced with a dilemma – do you remove your makeup and go au naturel in favour of fresh SPF protection? Or do you just try and delicately rub it over the top and risk smearing your makeup?

Well, now you never have to make that decision again, because it seems the beauty gods have been listening with brands everywhere releasing a product that not only tops up your suncream, but also keeps your makeup firmly in place.

Allow us to introduce you to your new handbag must-have; SPF setting spray.

All the protection of suncream with long-lasting hold that keeps your makeup looking just as good at the end of the day as it did when you left the house, the latest must-have item has already been trending on TikTok, with influencers and beauty lovers raving about them as the perfect combination of beauty and skincare.

One content creator,@Ayeesidh, shared a video raving about the Morphe Sunsetter Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Setting Spray, £18 here (was £19), as she demonstrated how to use it.

Spraying it over the top of a full face of makeup, @Ayeesidh said: “Hopefully it does not dissolve my makeup!” After liberally spritzing her face with the setting spray, her skin was left looking radiant and dewy, although the TikToker admitted she would probably do a second coat of Charlotte Tilbury’s Airbrush Flawless Setting Spray, £28 here, to make sure her makeup was fully sealed in place.

Followers took to the comments to share their verdict, with one writing: “That GLOW hunny,” whilst another said: “Love this product just bought it couple days back!!”

Another SPF setting spray that’s been going viral is the Kate Somerville Uncomplikated Spf 50 Soft Focus Makeup Setting Spray, £36 here, which offers SPF 50 protection whilst reducing shine and giving your skin a soft-focus effect thanks to the light-diffusing silicone powder.

TikToker@RudiBerryshared a video testing out the spray, captioning it: “Spoiler alert I love it”. In her video, the beauty fan says it “feels like nothing” on her skin, adding: “It’s not greasy whatsoever and leaves a natural finish.”

Other brands that have launched their own version include Barry M, with its The Quick Flick Quick Screen SPF 50+, £25 here, and one of the most affordable ones on our radar, Makeup Revolution Protect SPF 30 Fixing Spray, £8 here, which gives your skin a dewy glow whilst also protecting your skin from the sun’s harmful rays.

With sunscreen being the most important part of your skincare routine, SPF setting sprays are the perfect solution to one of the summer’s most annoying makeup troubles.
