Thousands praised the couple and deemed the hack to be a ‘great idea’.

‘I am definitely doing this. It’ll prevent my family from seeing their gift early when they are snooping,’ one person wrote.

‘I like this. It definitely represents itself better than an open bag! Love it,’ another added.

A third said: ‘I did this last year. It’s a great way to save on tissue and tape.’

But while the trick makes the gift bag look neat and tidy, others admitted it becomes far more difficult to open.

‘Nope..not a great idea..it’s impossible to get the gift.out without struggling to get them out of the hole,’ one person wrote.

Another said: ‘We like reusing the bags. This would make it impossible.’

‘Keep the gift. We don’t want it,’ a third joked, another said: ‘Just got a gift like this and it took me FOREVER to open it. Please don’t do this.’
