Greta Thunberg

A picture from 2019 where conspiracy theorists branded teenage climate activist Greta Thunberg a time traveller is doing the rounds again.

The 120-year-old picture in question shows three children working at a gold mine in the Yukon Territory in Canada.

Found in the picture archives of the Univeristy of Washington, the picture dates back to around 1898.

While it’s true that one of the children does bear a striking resemblance to Greta, it’s unlikely that the teenage activist has not, in fact, discovered time travel.

It’s rather just a spooky coincidence.

Thunberg is known for leading the charge on climate change by travelling to events to raise awareness – all without resorting to flying on a plane.

The original tweet from 2019 sparked massive attention but the photo now belongs to the University of Washington in Seattle.

In other news, Greta Thunberg is a time traveller.

‘We’ve had about 15 to 20 requests just to talk about the photo, and we’re getting into almost the triple digits now, in terms of requests to use the photo,’ archivist Lisa Oberg told CBC.
