Elon Musk to force Twitter users to pay for polls after they told him to quit

In what can only be described as a cop-out, Elon Musk has more or less ignored a poll in which 57.5 percent of voters called for him to step down as CEO—even after saying he would abide by its result.

Instead, the billionaire has announced that future polls relating to Twitter 'policy' will only be open to paid-up Twitter Blue subscribers.

Twitter user Kim Dotcom told Musk his poll was 'unwise' and claimed it was targeted by 'the biggest bot army on Twitter', with no evidence to support this.

Another user, @Unfilteredboss1, argued: "Blue subscribers should be the only ones that can vote in policy related polls. We actually have skin in the game."

Musk responded to this by simply saying: "Good point. Twitter will make that change."

Early on Sunday night, Musk shared a poll on his Twitter page asking whether he should 'step down as head of Twitter' and that he would respect the results.

57.5% of voters chose 'yes', which by all accounts means Musk should be gone by now.

At the time, Musk said: "As the saying goes, be careful what you wish, as you might get it". He added: "No one wants the job who can actually keep Twitter alive" in a sign that he perhaps isn't enjoying his $44bn pet project as much as he'd hoped.

When one podcaster, Lex Fridman, offered to run Twitter 'for a bit' with no salary, Musk said: "You must like pain a lot. One catch: you have to invest your life savings in Twitter and it has been in the fast lane to bankruptcy since May. Still want the job?".

Musk's itchy feet could be due to his plummeting wealth, as Tesla investors pull out of the company due to what some have called his 'erratic' behaviour on Twitter and less time spent on his electric car company.
