How to play Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 beta: what you need to know

One of the biggest releases this year is set to release in October – the newest iteration of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and people are excited.

The newest game will see Captain Price and Task Force 141 face off against the ultimate threat which involves the ultranationalist war criminal Vladimir Makarov who is extending his grasp across the world causing Task Force 141 to fight like never before.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare III will also see all 16 launch maps from the original Modern Warfare 2 (2009) have been modernized with new modes and gameplay features. It will also launch with new Ground War maps and all-new core 6v6 maps will fuel post-launch live seasons.

The good news is that the beta is set to launch this weekend for PS5 but the beta is a bit more complicated than that. But there multiple different ways you can get into the beta.

One of those ways is by pre-ordering the game so we’ve complied a list of places you can buy the game from so you can get competing as early as this weekend.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare release times and dates

The beta is split into two weekends where you can play. This upcoming weekend is exclusively for people who own a PS4 or PS5 so if you own either, you’ll have to wait until the week after.

The times are as follows:

  • Oct 6-7: Early access for Playstation players
  • Oct 8-10 – Open beta for Playstation players
  • Oct 12-13 – Early access for Xbox, PC and Playstation players
  • Oct 14-16 – Open beta for all platforms

Release times will also differ depending where you live. They are:

  • UK – 6pm
  • Europe – 7pm 
  • US East Coast – 1pm 
  • US Central US – 12pm 
  • US West Coast – 10am

How to get into the Modern Warfare III beta

In order to get into the Modern Warfare 3 beta, you’ll have to pre-order the game or you’ll have to get access to a code.

The good news is there are plenty of places you can pre-order the game. CDKeys currently has a whole host of options available for Xbox players starting at £52.99.

You can also get a beta access key if you just want to try out the beta on its own without wanting to purchase the full game. You can get a beta key for £9.99.

You can also pre-order the game from GAME, Currys, Amazon and the Game Collection for around £60. The cheapest place we have found is the Game Collection on PS5 for £59.95.

For Xbox players, CDKeys is the cheapest place to grab the game while PC players will have to go directly through Battle.net to get the game.

When you get a code, you should go to the redemption page but make sure you make a free Call of Duty account first. You can link your PS, Xbox and PC accounts through the website as well.
