A man from Texas allegedly hunted down and shot a suspected car thief with the help of an Apple AirTag, according to police.
The Texan took the law into his own hands when his truck was stolen from his home last Wednesday.
He tracked down the vehicle's location using an Apple AirTag and confronted the suspected car thief before shooting him in the head after what he called a 'firefight'.

The alleged thief, whose identity has not been released by local police, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident is still under investigation but the truck owner is not expected to face any charges, according to a local news outlet. He reported the truck as stolen to police but did not wait for their help in retrieving the vehicle.
A spokesperson for San Antonio police, Nick Soliz, urged people not to take the law into their own hands. He said: "I urge the public to wait for police in this matter. Let us go with you. We have training."
The Apple AirTag is a small coin-sized device designed to help people keep track of lost property, such as their keys or phones. However, Apple does not encourage people to retrieve their belongings themselves if stolen.

Apple has introduced several safety features to its AirTags since their release, following criticism that they could be misused as human tracking devices.
For example, iPhone users can now receive phone notifications if an unidentified AirTag has been in their proximity over an extended period of time.
Furthermore, AirTags will make an alert noise when they're separated from their owners over a long period of time.
