Residents in the town of Sioux Falls, South Dakota were probably a little nervous watching a huge storm turn the world around them green.

Footage shared online shows rolling clouds and a deep green hue that’s giving us strong Ozark-style vibes.

According to scientists, the strange phenomenon occurs when clouds carry a lot of water.

This allows primarily blue light to come through the storm cloud to us looking up at it from below.

The blue light mixes with the sun’s red light, and the sky turns green.

And it makes for some quite a dramatic pictures when it’s happening right above your head.






Amazingly, it’s not the only cloud-based news story of the week.

A few days ago, people in the US, Canada and Europe began to see incredible glow-in-the-dark clouds appearing briefly in the night sky.
