    Things are changing at Sky.

Yesterday the satellite TV firm announced the launch of its new VR service that will bring virtual content to everyone for free.

Now Sky has announced that, from today, Sky+ HD will no longer be available to new customers.

Instead, anyone wishing to join Sky will be given a state-of-the-art Sky Q box for the same price as the ageing Sky+ HD service.

This means customers can grab Sky Q for £20 per month – over half the original price.

So does this mean Sky+ HD is dead?

The good news for all existing customers is, Sky says it will continue to looks after its most popular device.

Sky+ has millions of users around the country and the firm says it plans to introduce new features every few months.

If anything should go wrong, Sky will also still offer replacements for existing customers and the original box will remain available to new subscribers in circumstances where the customer cannot take a Sky Q box.

So, for now, it appears that Sky+ HD still has some life left in it.

But with it removed from the company's website it seems Sky Q is very much the future.

It's not hard to see why Sky wants more people to switch to Q.

Although Sky+ HD is hugely popular, its features are beginning to look dated against its shiny new sibling.

The new Q service allows more recordings at once, wireless multiscreen viewing, and a touch remote that's soon to include voice control.

And, if users opt for the 2TB box, they also get free access to Sky's new Ultra HD 4K content.

When it launched earlier this year Sky Q had a premium price with some subscribers face bills of around £100 per month.

But it now costs the same as Sky+ HD and this price cut could be enough to convince telly addicts to finally make the jump.
