You can now visit the metaverse for less than £1 thanks to ‘Netflix for VR’

Ever since Apple revealed its Reality Pro headset, the hype around VR has reached an all-time high.

But there's one thing still standing in the way of most people and the metaverse: the price.

A decent VR or mixed reality setup can cost anywhere between a few hundred and a few thousand pounds, and that's before you even factor in the price of the games themselves.

Thankfully, it looks like the VR wizards at Meta have noticed this and decided to take action: by launching a new virtual reality subscription service called Quest+.

The service works in a very similar way to Sony's Playstation Plus subscription service.

Gamers pay a flat monthly or annual rate in return for two hand-picked VR games on the first day of each month. You can either pay $7.99 USD (£6.28) per month or $59.99 (£47.13) every year, but if you sign up before July 31, you can get your first month for just $1 (79p).

You'll get to keep the games for as long as they remain a subscriber of Quest+, making it a much more affordable way to build a great VR games library.

The first two games are the rhythm-action shoot-em-up Pistol Whip and the arcade game Pixel Ripped 1995.

Pistol Whip sees players shoot enemies in time to the rhythm of the music and features scenes inspired by iconic action movies, so it's bags of fun and an easy game to jump into when you want a quick session.

What's more, it costs £22.99 new so getting it through Quest+ is a bit of a no brainer financially.

The other game, Pixel Ripped 1995, has knock-out reviews and sees gamers play games-within-games while trying to avoid being caught by their parents. It usually costs £14.99 so it's really worth a shot.
