Jeremy Spake is now virtually unrecognisable – some 18 years after he first found fame on BBC series Airport – which, like ITV's Airline, gave a behind the scene glimpse at the daily workings of the UK's airports.
Jeremy, now 52, appeared on the show in 2005 while he was working as a ground services manager for Russian airline Aeroflot.
The star, who was based at Heathrow at the time, won over a legion of fans during his stint on the show and it catapulted him into additional TV opportunities.
He went on to host Toughest Jobs in Britain, a documentary series that followed workers in some of the UK’s most brutal and grueling jobs, and medical show City Hospital.
Jeremy also wrote two books – Jeremy’s Airport and The Toughest Job in Britain.
Jeremy’s Airport was based on his experiences working at Heathrow and takes its readers through a typical week on the job, while The Toughest Job in Britain saw him look back at some of the incredibly unforgiving jobs he gave a go during his time hosting the show of the same name.
At the same time as he pursued a media career, Jeremy was climbing the ranks at his day job.
Jeremy, who speaks fluent Russian, ended up becoming a services manager for Aeroflot before rising to become the Deputy Director of Isle of Man Airport.
However, Jeremy stepped away from his duties over on the Isle of Man to return, once again, to the airport that made him a star.
He ditched his day job to present a six-part documentary series that aired on the BBC in 2022, The Airport: Back In The Skies.
The new series saw Jeremy return to his roots and catch up with some old friends – and take a closer look at how the industry was recovering in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
The Airport: Back In The Skies began filming in October 2021, after some eighteen months of lockdown restrictions, travel bans, and vaccine passports, while the airport is in the midst of picking up the pieces and resuming a full service.
Luckily, Jeremy isn't afraid to get stuck in and helps to prepare a Boeing 737 for flight and jumps in to offer support to desperate, stranded tourists caught up in the middle of the chaos – which has become a staple of UK air travel recently as an air traffic control failure caused more mass cancellations last month.
Jeremy was just as much of a hit with fans as ever, but some of them couldn’t believe how different he looked this time around.
The star was once known for his chestnut hair and matching beard – but is now rocking a clean-cut look.
Jeremy now has a bald head, is clean-shaven, and seems to have swapped out his old glasses for contact lenses.
