After months of speculation, former Emmerdale star Charley Webb has confirmed she has split from actor Matthew Wolfenden.

She confirmed the news with a post on her Instagram, asking for privacy as they make their children their priority.

Writing on Instagram, Charley posted: "It is with love and respect that Matthew and I have decided to separate.

"We remain friends and our priority is the love for our children.

"For their sake we would appreciate privacy at this time. C x."

Matthew shared the same message on his Instagram Story, signing off with "M".

The couple met on the set of Emmerdale and began dating in 2007, are proud parents to three sons: Buster, born in April 2010, Bowie, born in December 2015, and Ace, born in July 2019.

Rumours about their relationship being on the rocks have been swirling for months, with talk of past unfaithfulness, social media snubs, and public appearances without wedding rings.

Missing rings

Matthew was spotted without his wedding ring just days before the couple announced their split.

The actor was all smiles as he was spotted taking a stroll away from the Steph's Packed Lunch studios in Manchester.

Wearing a cap back to front, Matthew looked casual as he donned a white T-shirt, a black knitted shirt and loose-fitting trousers.

Along with a bum bag around his chest, the actor carried a warm patterned jacket on a coat hanger in one arm.

However, the star had no jewellery on any of his fingers.

It came after Charley was snapped looking downcast and had switched her wedding rings to her right hand.

Instagram unfollow

At the beginning of November, Matthew shocked fans when he unfollowed his wife on Instagram. However, Charley was still following Matthew on the social media app.

Lack of support

Earlier this year, Charley announced she'd be making her theatre debut in the stage show, Quiz.

A number of her former co-stars have already been to see her play Diana Ingram, but Matthew has been a no show.

On opening night she received an outpouring of support from her famous pals, however, Matthew didn’t publicly acknowledge it.

Cryptic social media post

While rumours about her marriage continued to swirl, Charley took to social media to share a selfie and wrote: "Ignoring life and all the jobs I need to do. Also, I want more piercings."

No mention of Charley

Around the same time Matthew appeared on Loose Women.

The actor admitted that his parents have had to step in and help look after their kids, but failed to mention Charley during the interview.
