Veteran broadcaster Andrew Marr has reflected on the moment he broke down in tears during a special LBC show when he received the news the Queen had died aged 96 in Balmoral. Appearing on Monday’s sombre instalment of Good Morning Britain, Andrew told hosts Susanna Reid and Ben Shephard he “had that connection” with the late monarch.
Good Morning Britain replayed the LBC clip where Andrew said: “We have to interrupt this programme to tell you that Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II has died.”
The journalist got choked up as he delivered the news to listeners and he looked emotional as he heard the report back on the ITV news programme.
The 63-year-old told Susanna and Ben he teared up as he “had that connection” with the late sovereign and her death reminded him of losing his father.
