Aldi’s Next Big Thing sees local and amateur food suppliers go up against one another to win the ultimate prize of supermarket Aldi supplying their creation. The show is hosted by Chris Bavin and Anita Rani, accompanied by Julie Ashfield, the managing director at Aldi UK. Chris recently opened up on what it was like to work with the Countryfile star and sang her praises for their collaboration.

Anita and Chris teamed up together to help find Aldi’s next big supplier and help budding entrepreneurs fulfil their dreams.

They have the job of tasting the items which the contestants bring in and with the help of Julie decide which one is the best fit for the Aldi brand.

The pair have never worked together before so along with the challenges of a new series came a new partnership.

However, when asked what it was like to work with Anita, Chris sang her praises and had nothing but good words for her.

He told Express.co.uk: “She is brilliant, she is amazing. She is a fabulous presenter, I have not had the pleasure of working with her before.

“But obviously knew of her and seen her in lots of things, yeah it was great, we had lots of fun and it was brilliant working with her.”

Anita on the other hand teased: “I was contractually obliged to do so… No he is brilliant, we got on like a house on fire, in fact, all three of us.

“It was a really incredible production, it was one of those magic ones that you will never forget because everyone behind the camera got along so well.

“But I never worked with Chris before but we had a real giggle making it.”

The contestants taking part in the show include Chip Shop Chicken Curry Pie, Chichester in West Sussex.

The pie maker has been making a range of unique homemade pies using local ingredients, with his 10-year-old daughter helping to sell the goods.

Next is the Chinese Cooking Sauces, which sees Danni hoping her Chinese sauces with no preservatives and 100 percent natural ingredients make it to the shelves.

Leo and Aaron’s unusual business, Yumbug Cricket Recipe Kit saw fans go crazy as they pitched nutritional meal kits which involves insects.

Jess Cooks: Kid’s Ready Meals is on a mission to “ban beige” from kids’ diets, including frozen ready meals which help busy parents in the long run.

Mandira’s Kitchen Frozen Curry hoped her authentic home-style Indian meals with hit the shelves of Aldi.

Epronto Italian Ragu involves the Cingani family working together utilising their Nonna’s traditional recipes they have come up with a special ragu sauce.

The series will conclude on November 24, 2022, but the winner of each episode will have their products stocked up on Aldi’s shelves the next day.

Anita previously spoke to Express.co.uk about Leo and Aaron’s bug business and said: “There are quite a few products that will take people by surprise.

“Some really interesting things, like in episode one we have some really cool dudes who are pitching bugs as protein.

“People’s passion is what this is all about, people who love food and small producers who want to do something and make a difference. That is the magic stuff.”

Aldi’s Next Big Thing airs Thursday, from 9pm on Channel 4.
