One BBC Bargain Hunt couple made a staggering profit on a vintage watch they discovered on the show.

The married couple named Nathalie and Karl were on the red team and made the interesting discovery whilst searching for a fashion accessory.

Competitors Adam and Jemma were on the blue team and had to find an item with a Chinese connection.

The presenter, who in today's episode was Eric Knowles, dishes out a specific challenge to each team, which dictates the theme of one of their buys – known as the Presenter's Challenge.

As the teams set about scouring the market for hidden treasures, antiques expert Raj Bisram said of the red team: “This is probably one of the easiest teams I’ve ever had. Twenty mins down, two items. It’s a walk in the park – what else can I say.”

Nathalie and Karl nabbed a £15 Swedish vase and a £20 Clarice Cliff mustard pot.

They also nailed both the Big Buy Challenge and their Presenter's Challenge to buy a fashion accessory by spending a staggering £130 on a vintage gentleman's Omega watch, which dated back to the 1970s.

The show then moved on to the auction stage in Chippenham, as Nathalie and Karl's items were laid out before a crowd of eager buyers.

They were pretty jammy with their first item the Swedish vase fetched £30, cashing in on double the purchase price for the pair, despite the fact the beautiful glassware had a mark on it.

Then it was time for the watch and Tim couldn't contain his excitement.

He stated that the Omega watch was the "height of fashion."

The couple couldn't believe it when they once again doubled their money and the watch sold for £260.

Finally, the mustard pot earned Nathalie and Karl a £4 profit, meaning they managed to bag a whopping profit of £149.

After auctioning off their items, it was time for Raj to surprise the couple with their Bonus Buy item – a bowls set which netted Nathalie and Karl another £16, leaving them with a staggering profit of £165 by the end of the show.

Nathalie and Karl were delighted with their winnings.

    Bargain Hunt airs on BBC.
