On Tuesday morning, the TV favourite shared a very candid comment about grief as she alluded to a tough morning dealing with loss.

She wrote online: "Isn't it strange how grief just creeps up on you again… when you least expect it… long after someone has passed away," with a crying emoji alongside it.

Her followers immediately rushed to share their support for her, with one person writing: "Definitely! I hope you’re okay Carol. I highly recommend @CruseSupport if you’re in need of bereavement support or feel talking about it might help. They were brilliant with me when I lost my mum."

While another said: "It never goes away unfortunately. Sometimes it’s a song, or a smell, or something someone says and I’m right back there with my Mum, and it’s been 27 years since I last saw her x sending you a big hug x."

A third said: "When my grief ball hits my button it can be overwhelming. 'One minute, one hour, one day at a time.' Take care."

Carol gave no further insight into what had caused her upset on Tuesday morning, but she continued to post updates about the weather as she encouraged people to switch on BBC Breakfast.

She issued some good news to her followers, writing that things are "warming up" and become more humid.

She added: "Start of next week – spreading up from the south…. not definite but one to watch! @BBCBreakfast."

It was music to her followers' ears as they immediately rushed to comment on Carol's good news as many declared they "can't wait" and begged her to "keep bringing sunshine".
