Sharon Watts and Keanu Taylor's wedding is set to take centre stage at Christmas in EastEnders, but fans have been left wondering if there's a huge twist in store.
In Wednesday's (6th December) episode, Sharon gathered hers and Keanu's loved ones in the Queen Vic to reveal she'd booked the iconic pub for their wedding reception on Christmas Day, meaning the nuptials are definitely going ahead.
As the couple celebrated with champagne, Phil Mitchell arrived to confront Karen Taylor about her involvement in Albie's kidnapping after finding out the youngster wasn't snatched and he was actually just with Karen's brother-in-law.
Phil paid £50,000 in 'ransom money' to get Sharon and Keanu's son back, but had been unaware that the money had been paid straight to Karen – who was unwillingly involved in the kidnap plot.
Many have now been left wondering why Sharon goes ahead with marrying Keanu at Christmas, as he was the mastermind behind Albie's 'kidnapping' after initially attempting to flee the country with his son before having a change of heart.
However, some EastEnders fans think they've worked out what's going to happen next as Karen is soon set to exit the Square.
"I think it’s more likely that Karen takes sole responsibility for the scam – leading to her exit and leaving Keanu blameless to marry Sharon!" one viewer wrote on Reddit.
Another said: "She has said enough times that she will do anything ‘for my boy’, definitely this – unless Keanu blames her."
A third shared: "That would be the semi-honourable thing for her to do, but I wonder if Keanu throws her under the bus and the blame is firmly pinned on her before she even makes that decision?"
Actor Danny Walters, who plays Keanu, has opened up about his character's latest storyline. He told the Mirror: "I think in Keanu’s head, he’s trying to play the whole ignorance is bliss card, and he thinks ‘what she doesn’t know won’t hurt her’.
"His original intention was to obtain his son, so in Keanu’s mind he was always doing it for the greater good."
Sharon and Keanu are due to marry on Christmas Day, with teasers for the festive season showing Sharon in her white bridal gown in the Queen Vic. She is set to take centre stage at Christmas as part of 'The Six' with fellow matriarchs Linda Carter, Denise Fox, Suki Panesar, Kathy Beale and Stacey Slater.
It's been confirmed that one Walford resident will find themselves in grave danger, sparking a huge 'whodunnit?' storyline on the BBC soap.
