Bosses at BBC dancing series Strictly Come Dancing have urged one of its biggest celebrity stars to "cover up".

Layton Williams has been one of the favourites in this year's competition, earning a cool 28 points out of 40 on Saturday's show (October 7). Paired with Ukrainian ballroom professional Nikita Kuzmin, Layton has been pushing through to perfect his performances – including last week's performance of a Viennese Waltz during Movie Week.

Performing to Stockard Channing's version of There Are Worse Things I Could Do from Grease, Layton and Nikita made history on the BBC show. Williams was the first male celebrity to don a dress for his performance.

But now bosses at the dancing show have asked Layton to start putting on more clothes during training. Williams admitted that production crews are asking him to be more modest in showing his body in rehearsals.

"I keep getting told by the camera crew to wear more clothes," the Bad Education star confessed in an interview with The Mirror. "In the training room, they're like: 'We're seeing a lot of things.'"

But Layton hit back, adding: "This is how I feel comfortable. I've got my jockstrap on, it's the BBC! Everything is nice and tight and together."

Layton also revealed that he will not be breaking the so-called 'Strictly curse' of partners falling for each other. Speaking on Alan Carr's Life's A Beach podcast which came out on Monday (October 9), he admitted Nikita was straight and in a relationship with Aussie Tiktok star Charlie Backshall.

The West End star joked about his 25-year-old partner: "I know he doesn't want me, so that makes it so much easier". Layton, 29, is one of the favourites on the show, but has faced backlash due to both having previous dance experience, as well as performing as part of a same-sex duo.

The move from production comes just hours after the second celebrity was eliminated from the competition on Sunday (October 8). In a tightly-fought dance-off, BBC Asian Network host Nikita Kanda, together with Gorka Márquez, were booted off the show.

Nikita went up against Love Island star Zara McDermott and her partner Graziano di Prima in the dance-off. After both pairs performed, all four judges opted to save Zara from elimination, noting that Nikita had made mistakes in their routine from Saturday night.

Following her elimination, a devastated Nikita admitted she felt she "let [Gorka] down", but said: "This is a dream come true. I don't want to leave yet." Gorka was quick to reassure her, telling her to be proud in herself.
