BBC Strictlys Krishnan Guru-Murthy dealt devastating blow

It Takes Two: Krishnan feeling the pressure as Blackpool looms

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk, dance professor Dr Jill Rose Jacobs shared her thoughts on Strictly Come Dancing so far.

Dr Jill believes Krishnan Guru-Murthy could be at risk of leaving this weekend, meaning he will miss out on performing at Blackpool Tower.

The dance professor believed Krishnan should have been eliminated last weekend instead of Adam Thomas.

Dr Jill began: “Adam is learning how to dance. His dance technique is improving steadily, unlike Krishnan, who poorly performed the most fundamental of jazz-dance routines (joyously, but lacking dance skills).

“Adam’s costuming, or lack thereof, affected the perception of the routine.

“Dressed in what looked like black pajamas, Adam exquisitely partnered Luba (Mushtuk) in the dance, disappearing behind the professional dancer who was costumed in white chiffon and sequins.”

“Also, the judging panel was divided in their scoring and opinions this past weekend, often contrary to my own analysis of the celebrity’s performance.”

Dr Jill added: “I expected Krishnan to be eliminated from the show at this point.”

Adam landed in the bottom two with Angela Rippon on Sunday, however, Dr Jill felt the 79-year-old didn’t deserve to be there.

“I know that Angela was in the dance-off against Adam, but in my opinion, she shouldn’t have been,” the expert claimed.

“Based on the routines, the dance-off should have been between Krishnan and Adam.

“Angela Rippon deserves a couple more weeks unless she decides it’s enough already.”

Turning her attention to who could make Blackpool Week and even the final of Strictly, Dr Jill thinks Layton Williams could go all the way.

“The fact that Krishnan will be performing this week demonstrates that the celebrity’s success in the show does not depend solely on improved dance skills but that there is a weight in popularity. (Sorry, Krishnan),” she remarked.

“Even the judges’ critiques appeared influenced by factors that we, the viewing audience, didn’t see on the dance floor.

“Based on hard work, sweat, risk, technique, and a steady incline in the level of performances, I am a fan of Layton getting into the finals.

“Ellie (Leach) is leg-in-leg with Layton, showing weekly improvements, and ahead of Layton in good wardrobing.

“Nigel (Harman) is the dark dancer, the underdog, whose technique is leaping forward in the competition and giving him an advantage.”

According to the bookmakers’ latest odds, Krishnan is also tipped to be eliminated this weekend. The Channel 4 news presenter tops the elimination betting ahead of Annabel Croft, who is 13-8 to depart.

“Krishnan is likely to make the headlines for all the wrong reasons this weekend, as we make him the favourite to be eliminated from Strictly,” said Coral’s John Hill.

“The Channel 4 news presenter was one of the biggest outsiders in our betting at the start of the series, so he has defied the odds to get to this point, however, it looks likely to be the end of the road for him this weekend.”

Strictly Come Dancing airs at 6.05pm on BBC One.
