Beloved Coronation Street star hints at soap exit as she eyes up roles on Call The Midwife and Ten Pound Poms | The Sun

CORONATION Street favourite Lisa George has fuelled speculation she could be dropped from the soap after admitting she is eyeing up other roles.

The star, who plays Beth Sutherland on the ITV soap, told how she is waiting to hear if she will be offered another contract for the show.

Lisa joined the show back in 2011 and has remained central to Weatherfield ever since.

But could Beth's days be numbered?

Her marriage to Kirk has been under strain since the beginning of the year after Beth secretly met up with her handsome ex Marco to pursue if they still had a connection.

It led to a split for the once-strong couple when Kirk did discover her deceit.

However, they have since managed to patch things up but could the marriage still be threatened by a potential exit for her character.

She admitted to the publication that she was "just waiting to hear if I get another contract".

Lisa's current contract keeps her on the show until this Christmas.

Lisa went onto dish that landing a part in BBC favourite Call The Midwife would be the ideal next move for her.

The actress said: "I’m really interested in the war stuff, because my grandad talked about the war all the time. So I’d love to do a 1940s drama. Or something set in the '60s would be amazing.

"I would love to do Call the Midwife."

She then confessed that she would love to follow in her former co-star Michelle Keegan's footsteps by working on Ten Pound Poms.

Lisa added: "I watched Ten Pound Poms and loved it. A role in something like that would be amazing."

It seems she has her heart set on appearing in a throwback show, further commenting: "I’d love to do something like that. I like my vintage dramas and stuff like that, maybe a 1940s drama, more like war stuff."

Aside from Coronation Street, Lisa has dipped her toe into ITV reality shows with an impressive stint on the much-loved 2020 edition of Dancing on Ice.

She also showed off her vocals when she took part in All Star Musicals.

But if it is a new acting challenge the star is up for, you can almost guarantee it will pay homage to the past.
