Filming on the eagerly-awaited third series of Bridgerton was delayed because of a storyline that got too "dark", a report has claimed.
The racy period drama made a huge splash when it premiered in 2020 and a second series of the Netflix hit followed in 2022.
A third is in the pipeline, but according to The Mail on Sunday the script needed some changes amid fears that one sizzling plot had got a bit too heavy.

A source was quoted as saying: "Filming has been delayed due to the screenwriter not being happy with the direction of it.
"We have been told that it needs the fun back so there are changes, which of course means delays. One thing is for sure though, the production team want to get it right for Bridgerton fans so they enjoy it as much as they have in the past."
The insider said there were elements that executive producer Shonda Rhimes – who is also behind TV juggernauts likes Grey's Anatomy and Scandal – wasn't completely happy with.
"Some of it got very dark," they said.
The series, which is set in the Regency era, revolves around the Bridgerton family and stars the likes of Adjoa Andoh, Lorraine Ashbourne and Jonathan Bailey.
The upcoming third instalment is expected to focus on the love story of Colin Bridgerton (played by Luke Newton) and Penelope Featherington, who is played by Derry Girls star Nicola Coughlan.
It also featured screen legend Julie Andrews as the voice of Lady Whistledown.
A fourth series of the steamy programme is also on the cards.
