Celebrity Gogglebox's Gregg Wallace broke down in tears on Friday night as the star-studded cast watched a heartbreaking diver accident.

During the latest episode, Gregg, 58, as well as his famous co-stars such as Clare Balding, were left emotional as they watched The Deepest Breath.

The Netflix documentary, released earlier in July, sees deep safety diver, Stephen, lose his life to save his girlfriend, Alessia, in heartbreaking scenes as she attempted to tackle one of the most dangerous dives in the world.

In the documentary, Alessia says: "He rescued me, but I couldn't rescue him" to which it then showed the last photo of the couple together in the water as he risked his life to save her.

Gregg was reduced to tears as he took off his glasses and put his face into his hands.

While Clare Balding also broke down in tears as her wife, Alice, sweetly handed her tissues.

Clare, 52, said: "That’s just awful. He did save her."

Viewers were also left in tears as one person said: "That was really sad. Steve gave his life for hers he made the trade willingly #CelebrityGogglebox."

While a different account added: "@clarebalding 's wife Alice always helps to wipe away the tears #CelebrityGogglebox" with a crying emoji.

It comes as Roman Kemp reflected on his five years on Celebrity Gogglebox with his dad Martin Kemp.

The Capital Breakfast host is the son of Martin and Shirlie Kemp, best known as half of Pepsi & Shirlie.

Roman joined the cast of Celebrity Gogglebox in 2019. He spoke to OK! in an exclusive interview about being one of the longest-serving cast members.

"I think us and [Nick Grimshaw], we're the longest now. People love my dad talking about having sex with my mum to me.

"So I don't know. We're always on it and you know what, that crew and everyone there have been a part of our lives for the past five years. Every summer that's what we do."

He added: "I love it. It's the best. And what you see genuinely, that is our relationship. So that's the nicest thing."

As for whether there's anything he can't stand to watch with his dad, Roman said that nothing is off the table.

Celebrity Gogglebox continues every Friday night at 9pm on Channel 4.
