Celebrity MasterChef fans distracted by Michael Preads appearance

Andi Peters says he should have won Celebrity Masterchef 2008

Celebrity MasterChef contestant Michael Pread left viewers stunned over his appearance on Tuesday night and was quickly branded as a “silver fox”.

Being introduced to the show, Michael said: “Everybody wants to win. If you analyse games, it is essentially warfare.

“You try to annihilate your opposition, aren’t you? To win”

When fans first realised it was Michael, many of them took to their Twitter accounts to express their shock over his appearance, with some comparing him to James May, Billy Connolly and Si King.

@RachelHobs55673 jokingly asked: “Are we absolutely sure that’s Michael Praed?#celebritymasterchef.”

@TGAnnaWade commented: “Love how Michael Praed has stayed true to his 80s hair #CelebrityMasterchef.”

@DrNeilMatthews noted: “Michael Praed doesn’t look like Michael Praed. Unrecognisable. So he gets points off for that.”

@Dolly_Darren exclaimed: “Didn’t recognise silver fox Michael Pread! #CelebrityMasterChef.”

@Wiltswoman said: “Michael Praed? It’s been a while but at least I know who you are #celebritymasterchef.” (sic)

Other viewers noted that Michael had worked with MasterChef co-star Amy Walsh before and starred alongside her as her father in ITV soap Emmerdale.

@taylouist91 expressed: “am I hallucinating or did Michael & Amy play father & daughter on Emmerdale haha #MasterChef #CelebrityMasterchef.” (sic)

Gregg asked Michael about his previous experience working with Amy, and said: “You seem to know Amy?”

Michael explained: “I spent three genuinely cherished years on Emmerdale and I had the great distinction to be Amy’s dad.”

In shock, Gregg continued: “Is that right? So is there a healthy competitiveness between you and Amy?”

Immediately, Michael teased: “Hell yeah, I want to beat her bad” to which John quipped: “Right, that’s a nice thing to say to your daughter.”

hroughout the first episode, Michael managed to impress John and Gregg with his dishes despite admitting he didn’t feel confident with a few of his ideas.

He impressed the judges so much that they had no issue in sending him into the next round, however, it was home time for Strictly Come Dancing star Dianne Buswell.

Speaking about getting through to the next round, Michael expressed: “I am absolutely thrilled to be in the next round, it is good to have this one under the belt.”

Touching on her exit, Dianne said: “I feel gutted to be the first one to go home, I think eliminations get to me.

“I am used to them though, but they never get easier.”

Celebrity MasterChef airs Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 9pm on BBC One.
