CELEBRITY SAS Who Dares Wins star Curtis Pritchard was gripped with emotion last night as he spoke about "self sabotage" on the Channel 4 show.

The dancer, 26, was dragged in for his recruits' interview and fought back tears while opening up about his mental health.


He rose to fame on Love Island and is one of 12 well-known faces facing their fears in the new series.

Speaking to ex Special Forces officer Jason Fox, Curtis said: "Today has been one of the harder days for me.

"My arms gave up, my head went weak. My mind went weak.

"I am a professional ballroom dancer danced from the age of 12 years old represented England in the worlds.

"When I got to about 17 18 years old I sort of fell out of love with dancing and I wasn't achieving what I wanted to."

Curtis started dancing at a young age alongside his older brother AJ who was a professional on Strictly Come Dancing.

They learned their craft at their mum and dad Adrian and Debi’s dance school, Pritchard’s Dance and Fitness Academy.

He starred on Dancing With The Stars in Ireland in 2017 and Curtis explained: “I got into dancing through my parents.

“But what got me seriously in to it was when dad would take me to major competitions he judged. Seeing professionals dance was my biggest inspiration.”

Curtis rose to fame after appearing on popular reality TV show Love Island.

He signed up to Celeb SASalongside his brother AJ and fellow Love Island 2019 alum, Amber Gill.

The celebrities are put through arduous tasks in the desert while on the show, and are really pushed to their physical and mental limits.

PAIN GAME

However, Curtis has admitted that he caused the most damage to himself just two days before he started filming, and in a rather embarrassing manner too.

Speaking to The Sun Online and other media, he said: "I did have a small hiccup just before going in.

"Two days before going in, I was gonna go for a massage and I accidentally stubbed my little toe and broke it.

"Literally they called me into your massage and I stood up and booted my toe.

"I was that embarrassed, I couldn't make a facial expression, couldn't make a noise, I just kept walking on it.

"And I knew 'what have I just done to myself'."

Curtis was already concerned about another injury, having broken his shoulder last year.

He explained: "I was still recovering from it, was it fine? Hmm it was alright.

"I had to make sure I kept stretching my rotator cuff had a slightly weak rotator cuff. So I had to really work on that and stretch that, they all knew about it.

"Hitting the first challenge I thought 'If my shoulder gives in now, I am done in, absolutely done, and I did that first challenge and I was like, 'I'm gonna be able to do this. This is awesome.'"

Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins begins tonight, Sunday September 4 at 9pm on Channel 4.
