Channel 4 cancels huge star’s home makeover show in latest TV schedule cull | The Sun

CHANNEL 4 has called time on a huge star's makeover show after just one series on air.

Big Brother presenter AJ Odudu's Big Interiors Battle has been axed by the broadcaster.

The 35-year-old hosted the home improvement show before she landed her Big Brother role earlier this year.

It saw eight interior designers receive the keys to an apartment where they were challenged to transform a different room each week.

However, it failed to pull in the audience bosses at Channel 4 were hoping for and it's now been rested.

An insider said: "The format on paper was great and the ultimate prize of contestants winning a home made it stand out compared to other makeover shows.

"It just didn't take off and execs have decided not to bring it back.

"With AJ's busy schedule now she's hosting Big Brother and the celebrity edition returning early next year she is the busiest she's ever been."

A spokesperson for C4 told The Sun: "Every year, Channel 4, like all broadcasters, makes decisions about which shows to rest, return or conclude to ensure we always innovate and offer viewers the best range of programming.

"Regretfully, The Big Interiors Battle did not resonate with viewers as we would have liked, and there are no current plans for further series.”

The show saw each hopeful judged on their creations and learning their fate with an electronic key-card.

When they returned to the apartment, if the door went green after swiping their card they remained in the competition – however, a red light meant they were sent packing.

Tara Rodrigues won the competition and became the owner of her very own two-bedroom apartment within a historic development in South Yorkshire.

Viewers watched as the mum-of-two broke down in tears on hearing the news she had bagged the £250,000 property.
