Coleen Rooney sits in court in first look at Wagatha Christie documentary series

Fans have been treated to their first look at Coleen Rooney: The Real Wagatha Story which is heading to streaming service Disney+.

Three first-look images have been released, giving viewers some idea of what they can expect from the highly-anticipated show.

In one image, Coleen Rooney, 36, sits in court with a notebook open in front of her.

Another shows the WAG, who recently confessed the case had taken a toll on her marriage, looking pensive and focused as she stands atop the stairs of the court, with her hair in a bun.

The Disney+ series offers exclusive access to Coleen, her family, friends and key players involved in the case.

Coleen Rooney: The Real Wagatha Story will detail how Coleen turned amateur online sleuth to find an explanation for why private stories about her and her family continued to appear in the media.

It will look at the circumstances around her viral social media post in which she said she had carried out a months-long “sting operation” and accused Rebekah Vardy, the wife of footballer Jamie Vardy, of leaking “false stories” about her private life to the press.

In a trial that gripped the nation last summer, Rebecca, 40, lost a libel battle over the post, after a High Court judge found it was “substantially true”.

Her sleuthing efforts saw Coleen dubbed “Wagatha Christie” in reference to the popular mystery writer.

The three-part series will also explore how Coleen’s life, and marriage to footballer Wayne Rooney, has played out in public for the last 20 years.

The Disney+ documentary is made by Dorothy Street Pictures and Lorton Entertainment and is directed and produced by Lucy Bowden.

An air date for the series, which was confirmed to be coming to the streaming service in May 2023, is yet to be announced.

The new series comes after Coleen’s bombshell interview with Vogue on 17 August, in which she opened up about the trial for the first time.

In the article, Coleen admitted that while she’s usually a “forgive and forget kind of person”, she feels like her relationship with Rebekah is “totally different.”

She also hinted that the pair were never really friends, and that they had never even been for a drink together.

The WAG also said she had been shocked to receive an invitation to Rebekah’s baby shower.

However, she said that she had expected a degree of solidarity from a fellow WAG, and had hoped Rebekah would have been more understanding.
