Former Coronation Street actress Rhea Bailey had viewers begging for her to come back to the famous Cobbles after she teased a 'return' to Weatherfield life on Sunday evening.

The 39-year old, who starred as Caz Hammond for two years after joining the soap in 2015, took to Instagram to share a series of snaps of herself back on set.

Rhea, who was also a favourite on ITV police series The Bill as PC Mel Ryder, visited Corrie with her Overtones singer husband Dan Everest and their young daughter.

The trio posed for snaps outside the Rovers Return pub, The Kabin store and Roy's Rolls café, before Dan and his band performed a live concert, which was broadcast on Smooth Radio.

"Looks who’s back?!?" she joked on the social media platform.

She continued: "I'm just playing. Nobody panic! Lovely evening on the cobbles! Thanks @smoothradio @the_overtones @coronationstreet Miss you guys! Felt special to be back where it all started! Without this job, we may never have met!!… think Caz is still serving time somewhere!"

Fans clearly loved the thought of Rhea – the sister of singer Corrine Bailey Rae – making a permanent return to the Street, with one commenting: "Think you ought to be back in it x."

Another wrote: "BRING BACK CAZ!!!! and please tell me Curly is still alive…" While a third simply said: "LOVE THIS."

Husband Dan also got in on the act, adding: "Bring Caz back @coronationstreet."

In present day Corrie, meanwhile, viewers think they've uncovered a secret DNA link between Summer Spellman and newcomer Esther.

Summer is preparing to sell her unborn child to Mike and his wife Esther after they talked her out of having an abortion, desperate to have a child of their own.

And now they think, in a shock twist, Esther could be Summer's biological mother.

Summer's birth mum is unknown to viewers after she was adopted by dad Drew Spellman, who died after relinquishing his daughter's care to Billy Mayhew.
