Coronation Street fans have 'worked out' that Eliza is set to be groomed after she received a video call from a mystery man during Friday's (4 August) episode.

During the latest instalment of the soap, Eliza, played by Savannah Kunyo, returned home to her grandfather Stu (Bill Fellows) and Yasmeen (Shelley King) after the date of her sleepover was mixed up.

But then, while chatting with the two of them, Eliza received a video call from someone called Dom and stepped out to take the call in private.

"I thought you were going to leave me hanging," Dom said after Eliza answered the phone.

Eliza responded: "I just needed to find somewhere more private, that's all".

"It's great to actually see you rather than just message," Dom continued, before Eliza admitted he didn't sound how she expected.

Dom said: "I might sound different again when we meet in the flesh," before asking whether Eliza was still keen to meet in person.

"Totally! I can't wait," said an excited Eliza as the mysterious man agreed.

Fans immediately started speculating about Dom's true intentions after Eliza's call, with many predicting that she is about to become the centre of a grooming storyline.

Taking to social media, one fan wrote: "#Corrie sweet jesus what was that? Filthy old man grooming a kid…"

Another added: "Oh, you’re kidding. A grooming storyline with a paedo. Can you not lighten up? Ever?"

"It's a dirty old man paedo online grooming story now," agreed a third as someone else declared: "OMG Eliza’s going to be groomed #corrie".

Others think the storyline could be completely different, however, with some speculating that it could be Eliza's dad. Eliza's dad is yet to be introduced to the Cobbles, with youngster being under the care of grandfather Stu Carpenter as her mother, Bridget Woodrow, is in prison for murder.

One person wrote: "Who in the whatsit what is Dom? And why is that little girl so eager to meet him? Would she have her dad saved in phone as Dom? That totally threw me".

A second asked: "Who is Dom? Could that be Eliza's dad?"

"Her dad's calling now ffs #corrie," tweeted another viewer while a fourth agreed: "It's her dad not a paedo #Corrie."
