Coronation Street fans work out Stephen Reids final victim

Coronation Street: Adam exposes lying pregnant wife Sarah at gender reveal party

Coronation Street’s Stephen Reid (played by Todd Boyce) has had multiple opportunities to claim his fourth victim, with fans theorising that Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine) is next.

Recent images saw Stephen actor Todd Boyce filming in an airport suggesting that the serial killer is set to try and flee Weatherfield.

Viewers of the soap recently took to their Reddit accounts to theorise who they thought Stephen could kill before his exit.

User @iloveNearmorethanL asked: “Do you think Stephen will get to off a major character at some point before his exit?

“As judging from the spoilers that say he attacks Tim and also that Teddy’s body is found soon it looks like the story is heading towards the end.

“So I was wondering do you think he’ll still get to claim at least one more victim? Or do you think that’s it for his kill count?

“And if he does do you think he’ll get to actually kill a major character like Tim? Or maybe Peter since he’s leaving?”

Replying to their question, @StormblessedOrc commented: “I really hope so, though it’s starting to seem unlikely now. I don’t believe Tim will be binned off.

“However, if it did happen it would leave the possibility for a widowed Sally to get back together with Kev further down the line. They could remarry for the third and final time.

“Stephen has been by far the most entertaining thing in a long time to happen in Weatherfield and I’ll be sad when his time on the street comes to an end.” (sic)

@chippyinairplane exclaimed: “I hope he never leaves and continues to kill!,” with @SnooRadishes5963 replying: “I agree, there are plenty of victims. Sean, Summer, Simon, Max.”

@redditorMan2020 explained: “I understand why the writers don’t do it, but it takes away from serial killer storylines when they just kill extras and a single “secondary” character (Tim in this hypothetical case).

“I’m not asking them to kill a character that’s David/Ken levels of iconic, but killing off big characters would give mass murder storylines much more impact.” (sic)

@00vr didn’t want to see Tim offed by Stephen and noted: “I hope so (not Tim! I love Tim too much) – he feels a little toothless as a villain, even though he’s pretty good at manipulation and has already killed.

“I feel like killing a main cast member or two would both serve to help cull the bloated cast a bit, and make him feel like a bit more of a significant and threatening villain. (sic)

“What’s the point of a soap serial killer if they never take out a major character?I’d be thrilled for him to take out Craig, Chesney, Gary, Izzy.” (sic)

Whilst another user theorised that the ones closest to Stephen should be the ones to become his final victim.

@JM200YBC said: “Surely Micheal has to be the “main” cast member to die within this story. He’s been the one consistent character throughout the whole storyline and let’s be honest it’d be an easy out.” (sic)

Will Stephen have one last hurrah before he is caught for all his murders? Will he finally get his way with Tim?

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8pm on ITV.
