Coronation Street legend to return to the soap three years after quitting

One Coronation Street legend is reportedly set to return to the cobbles three years after quitting. Lucy Fallon, who played Bethany Platt in the ITV soap, is said to be returning to the show "after Christmas."

Lucy, 27, will start filming in the coming months ahead of her on-screen return later in the year, according to The Sun. She left Weatherfield in 2020 after five years when Bethany took a magazine internship in London.

Since leaving, Lucy has become a mum to baby Sonny with her boyfriend, footballer Ryan Ledson. A TV Source told The Sun: "Bosses reached out to her a few weeks ago about the possibility of coming back, and told her everything they’d planned for Bethany if she agreed. She discussed it with her boyfriend and family because she’s a mum now with a baby.

"Once they’d talked about childcare, and how best to juggle it all, she was able to say she’d love to return. Everyone is very excited."

When Lucy left Corrie, she told OK! that she would "never say never" about going back on the show. The actress said: "I’d never say never because Bethany didn’t die. I didn’t leave because I didn’t enjoy it, I left because I felt like if I didn’t leave now and try to experience life, I would never leave.

"That wouldn’t be a bad thing, but I didn’t want to get to ten years down the line and think, 'I should have gone for a couple of years to experience other things.'"

Lucy also revealed that Corrie legend Sue Nicholls, who plays Audrey Roberts, advised her when she was leaving. She said: "Sue Nicholls said she thought her first job was going to be her forever job, and then she got Corrie, so she said I have to do it to see if there’s anything else out there."

Bethany's return to the street will come at a good time for her struggling mum Sarah Platt. Viewers have watched in recent weeks as Sarah's world has fallen apart following her affair with resident drug dealer Damon Hay.

Since the affair was revealed, Sarah also found out that she was pregnant but didn't know if the baby was Damon's or her husband Adam Barlow's. Adam demanded a DNA test, and the results confirmed that Damon was the father.

However, Sarah sadly lost the baby in heartbreaking scenes last week. To make things worse, Adam has also informed her that he wants a divorce as he can't trust her anymore.
