Coronation Street's Aadi Alahan is now the centre of a saucy affair storyline since hooking up with his boss' wife Courtney Vance (Stephanie Davis).

Actor Adam Hussain first set foot on the cobbles in 2020, taking on the role of Aadi from Zennon Ditchett.

At first, Aadi had to deal with his estrangement from his dad Dev after the car crash that nearly killed him and Summer’s cheating scandal.

And this week, Aadi and Courtney are nearly caught by Amy, which could lead to their affair being exposed.

When Courtney refuses to pay for a drink, Amy loses it and warns her to stop using Aadi.

But what about Adam’s life away from the ITV cobbles? From racism hell to his real-life partner, Daily Star takes a look.

    Racy soap scenes

Aadi's latest storyline involves a romance with older lady Courtney – wife to his new boss.

Adam admitted his character's latest plot is rather "raunchy", telling press: "It’s an intimate storyline and I’ve never really done anything quite like that, apart from the story involving Kelly (Millie Gibson), which was more of a sweet and innocent young love.

"This story takes things up a notch because it’s quite raunchy!"

He added: "I was a little worried about the chemistry between Aadi and Courtney.

"But working with Steph has quelled it. She’s been so easy to get along with and because she’s such a talented actress, it’s made the work come out great!"

    Tweet controversy

Adam hasn't been able to totally avoid controversy in the past, as he was forced to issue an apology after liking tweets from misogynist Andrew Tate.

He liked a series of tweets from Tate – including one that read: "30 more days on house arrest. 30 more days suppressed."

Adam claimed he wasn't aware of who Tate was or the controversy surrounding him, releasing a statement that read: "I’m really sorry if my 'liking' of these tweets has caused any offence to our viewers and my colleagues.

"I wasn’t aware of Andrew Tate and his background and I would never endorse those views. I liked some of his tweets in the moment with no reference to his back story. I will be more careful in future."

    Split from stunning partner

In real life, Adam’s romance is nothing like Aadi’s, and the 22-year-old actor went Instagram official with his girlfriend in 2021 – however, the pair have now called it quits.

The star was dating law student Katie O’Relia, and last October headed off for a much-needed holiday at the swanky Sawcliffe Manor Country House in Yorkshire.

The pair shared a sweet snap together from the estate, both bundled up in jackets to protect against the autumn chill as Katie let her brunette hair fall to frame her face.

Adam, meanwhile, could be seen grinning at the camera as the sun set ahead of them, captioning his snap: “Exploring the wild.”

Since then, pair have attended various events together including the Soap Awards back in June 2022, with Katie wowing in a blue silk gown as Adam dressed to the nines in a charcoal suit.

However, Adam and Katie split in February 2023, unfollowing each other on Instagram and removing various photos together.

    Racism hell

Adam has opened up about the devastating effect racism has had on his family after his younger sister was the target of a vile verbal attack on a train.

The star demanded action from Manchester transport service Metrolink and Greater Manchester Police about the incident, in which his 19-year-old sister was subject to abuse by a man who called her a “terrorist”.

She had been travelling from Manchester Airport, where she was working the night shift.

Adam shared his sister’s Instagram post of the incident, in which she explained: “Called a terrorist coming home 6 in the morning from a night shift… didn’t know I was a terrorist for being brown.”

Adam later took to his Twitter to post: “My little sister was racially abused… when she was coming home from a night shift, [six] in the morning yesterday.

“It just goes to show how rampant racism still is.” He added that the incident was “appalling and outrageous”, claiming a tram driver witnessed the incident without stepping in.

He explained to Manchester Evening News at the time: “My sister is studying at [university] so she’s been doing night shifts to save a bit of money, and she was coming home on the tram around 6 in the morning.

"I hope more is done as people like this think they can say and act in such vile manners and think they can get away with it.

"I feel not many people report this sort of stuff because they feel nothing will be done and can’t be bothered with all the hassle – but that’s what motivates people even more to behave in a horrible way."

Metrolink bosses confirmed back in August 2021 that a “full investigation” was being carried out into the incident.

Coronation Street isn’t the only thing Adam has made his name in, as he’s also starred in iconic BritBox drama The Bay as Josh Nubhai for two series.

The star also appeared in Hulu original series No Man’s Land as Nasser Jeune, along with finding fame on Amazon Prime’s Absentia as Rafiq.

His first ever TV role came back in 2019 when he starred as Mohammed in two episodes of Secret Life of Boys.

He took over from previous Aadi actor Zennon in 2020, after the star quit to focus on his A-Level exams.

But in a sweet tribute to his co-stars, Adam explained that the show feels “like school” for its younger cast members, explaining that he is good friends with the likes of Tanisha, Millie Gibson, Harriet Bibby and Elle Mulvaney.

The star told Digital Spy: “It’s like school for us! We come in, we socialise and we get along. We do meet up every now and again outside of work. We go bowling or go-karting, now that we're allowed to. We're like a little family."

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8pm on ITV.
