It started with unwanted flowers deliveries in Coronation Street, but pretty soon Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) discovered that she was the target of a stalker.
Justin (Andrew Still) was someone she’d met briefly while at the hospital and was kind to, but to him that was enough to make him latch on to her with delusions that they are in a relationship.
Charlotte Jordan told us about the effect this has on Daisy.
‘She’s just always on edge,’ she said. ‘She’s looking over her shoulder constantly, she never knows where he’s going to appear. He is totally delusional and believes they’re in this loving relationship and Daniel (Rob Mallard) is somehow an obstacle for them.
‘She doesn’t know how far that delusion is going to go and she doesn’t know how dangerous that will make him in the long run and she doesn’t know what’s going to tip him over the edge. It’s just a really scary situation for her to be in.’
Daisy finally manages to regain some sense of control of the situation in upcoming episodes when she opens up to Maria (Samia Longchambon) – who has experienced a similar thing last year after she was trolled online and became the victim of a faked porn film.
When Daisy’s hair stylist cancels her wedding booking Daisy isn’t impressed by Jenny (Sally Ann Matthews)’s suggestion of using Maria, saying that she’s old and out of touch.
Maria’s obviously offended by this, but as Daisy’s phone keeps pinging with messages from Justin Maria’s anger subsides and she talks to Daisy about her experiences last year.
With Maria’s support, Daisy decides to go to the police and she’s heartened when she’s granted a hearing for a Staling Protection Order.
Could Daisy’s ordeal be about to end?
