Filming for series 12 of Death in Paradise is well underway, with leading star Ralf Little and the cast sharing exciting snaps from behind the scenes. However, while BBC fans will have to wait until the New Year for the upcoming episodes, bosses have revealed which celebrity actors will be featured in the latest storyline.

Taking to both Twitter and Instagram, Death in Paradise released first-look images of the cast.

The celebrities set to guest star in the BBC series includes Les Dennis, Holby City’s Jo Martin, Derry Girls actress Siobhán McSweeney and Hakeem Kae-Kazim.

Also joining the line-up are Happy Valley’s Amit Shah, I Hate Suzie star Chelsea Edge and Sanditon’s Kevin Eldon.

However, many fans were left gobsmacked by Les Dennis’ transformation, with many taking to social media to share their thoughts.

Some even compared the actor to Paul Whitehouse and EastEnders’ Arthur Fowler.

Helen Warner thought the star was unrecognisable as they penned: “Oh my, that so doesn’t look like him.”

Jan Clay wrote: “Les Dennis with dark hair is really weird.”

Jase Perry replied: “Well done guys @lesdennis you look so serious.”

CJ tweeted: “All I can see is Paul Whitehouse (sorry).”

Alison Davey joked: “What have you done to him?”

While Mark Goddard pointed out: “Looks like he’s channelling his inner ‘Al Pacino’, I’ll bet he’s a very interesting character and keeps slipping into a Mavis Riley ‘Well I don’t really know’ voice!!” (sic)

“I thought it was Arthur Fowler (Eastenders),” Craig Machan went on to say.

Ralf Little will be back as detective Neville Parker for series 12, along with co-stars Tahj Miles, who plays Marlon Pryce and Shantol Jackson as Naomi Thomas.

The end of series 11 saw Commissioner Selwyn Pattison (Don Warrington) discovering he had a secret daughter with Maggie Harper (Orla Brady), who guest-starred in the final episode.

Selwyn got a blast from the past when Neville and the team were investigating the suspicious death of a chess player.

The commissioner later confided in bar owner Catherine, (Élizabeth Bourgine) admitting to her that he had a daughter.

However, fans have come up with their own theories and thoughts about how the storyline will play out in series 12.

Many have come to the conclusion that the Commissioner’s daughter will make a surprise appearance in Saint Marie, in order to get to know her father better.

They went on to claim that in doing so, she could strike up an unlikely romance with detective Parker.

Is romance on the cards of the detective?

Death in Paradise is available to watch on BritBox and BBC iPlayer.
