EastEnders airs Mick Carter aftermath as Janine finally gets her downfall

EastEnders was full of explosive scenes on Monday's Boxing Day episode as it showed the aftermath from Mick Carter's dramatic Christmas Day episode.

During the latest instalment, a shocked Linda Carter headed back to the Queen Vic where she told a devastated Shirley Carter the news about Mick.

Soap fans will recall that Mick appeared to be "killed off" on Sunday's episode as he bowed out of the soap after nine years.

Mick tried to save his ex-wife Linda after she and Janine drove off a cliff and into the English Channel, where he disappeared at sea.

During Monday's instalment, Linda told Shirley about the news, saying that a rescue team had been out looking for him for hours and continued to do so.

Linda emotionally added: "I don't think he's coming back, Shirl!"

Things then took an explosive turn when Janine, who had recently married Mick before he reunited with Linda, barged through the pub doors.

And after a showdown, which resulted in Shirley attacking Janine, Linda demanded Janine leave Albert Square for good or she would call the police, telling them all the wicked things she had done.

A desperate Janine then ran over to Ricky Butcher and Sonia Fowler, where her daughter Scarlett was staying, telling them everything.

Janine then had a quiet word with her daughter, emotionally blackmailing her and asking her to lie about the car crash back in June, where Janine framed Linda for the accident.

She then told Ricky and Sonia: "We've had a really nice chat, we're both very very sad. But we're going to stay strong and united for the baby.

"We're not going to trouble you anymore, we're going to go home, to the Vic. Scarlett is going to clear up the confusion, the misunderstanding, she told a tiny little fib and she feels terrible about it."

To which Ricky hit back: "No, she didn't. I'm not going to let you do this, Janine, I've just called the police."

He then showed his phone records, adding: "Look, they will be here any minute. I'm doing it for you, Janine, you're out of control, you have been for years."

Janine then tried to run away with Scarlett but the youngster insisted: "I don't want to, I don't want to tell anymore lies."

But before they could go any further, Janine was arrested by the police for perverting the course of justice.

The episode ended with Linda sobbing: "He's gone, Shirl, why are we pretending that he ain't."

To which Shirley said: "Because I can't bear it, I can't lose my boy, we can't lose Mick. Please Linda, tell me he's going to be okay!"
