EastEnders cast reveal how long Cindy Beale will stick around for after explosive Walford return | The Sun

EASTENDERS cast members have hinted at how long Cindy Beale will stick around after her recent shock return to Walford.

The character played by Michelle Collins was presumed dead after a mishap during childbirth.

Her on-screen husband Ian Beale was told she had passed away while giving birth to their daughter Cindy, after being arrested for attempting to murder him.

But this June Cindy left residents of Albert Square reeling after making an explosive return to the soap.

It was revealed that the fan favourite was alive and in a witness protection program.

In shocking scenes she was reunited with her former husband George Knight, explaining how she had been forced to hide under the fake name Rose Knight after taking a plea deal and ratting out fellow inmate Jackie Ford.

And last night at the NTAs, Michelle revealed how long her character is likely to stay in Albert Square after the surprising reappearance.

At first the actress remained coy, responding "Who?" when she was asked about Cindy's time back on the soap.

But Colin Salmon was a bit more forthcoming, telling the Sun Online: "I think she will [stick around]. She's loving her daughters and she's loving Peter.

"There are some lovely stories there. Michelle is great. Lovely having her."

Michelle then confirmed that the matriarch would "absolutely" be part of the plot at least until Christmas.

She speculated on what gifts her character might get family members, saying: "I'm much more caring, I do personalised gifts for everyone obviously. A small sack for everyone. It's give give give."

Molly Rainford, who also recently appeared on the show as Anna Knight, added: "It's been so cool. It's so good to see the family in this light, and it's so nice for the viewers to see a little more of us with the storyline.

"When we came in we were a bit explosive, but we've had our little moments – just living and becoming part of Walford. I feel like now we've really made our mark on it.

"It feels very cool, but we've got some powerhouses in this family anyway, so Cindy is only just the cherry on top of those. Like mother like daughter."

EastEnders airs from Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One.
