EastEnders fans baffled by ‘unrecognisable’ and ‘handsome’ character offscreen

EastEnders fans were left with their jaws on the floor after seeing how different hunky actor Jonny Freeman looks when he isn’t on set.

Viewers were first introduced Jonny, who plays Reiss Colwell, on the hit BBC One soap back in December as late Dot Branning's great-nephew.

The awkward character arrived at Walford for Dot’s funeral, and has since struck up a romance with Albert Square resits Sonia Fowler.

Reiss, who held a clear crush for Sonia, came to her rescue after he helped her secure Dot’s house after discovering a huge tax inheritance bill.

But fans of the show have since been left stunned and wowed by his chiseled good looks in unearthed snaps.

In pictures posted on social media, Jonny looks totally different with a trimmed and neatly-groomed beard.

He can also be seen rocking a full head of hair while smouldering to the camera for his new headshots.

It didn’t take long for stunned fans to flood social media with comments on how different how he looks.

“Very handsome, should have kept him like that,” gushed one person.

Someone else chimed in and said: "What a difference… shocker."

“Omg he is so good looking, he looks so different in real life,” proclaimed a third fan.

A fourth agreed: "OMG so different.”

Aside from EastEnders, Jonny has starred in BBC’s Silent Witness and Channel 4’s Top Boy.

The star has appeared on BBC medical drama doctors as three different characters between 2007 and 2012.

He first appeared as James Raney, followed by character Jamie Dawes, before his final appearance as Neil Traynor.

Speaking of his new role in Albert Square, actor Jonny tole the Radio Times: "In terms of my first day – it's not filmed in sequence – and in my very first scene I met Richard the director and Natalie.

"And yeah, I mean, I found myself by Albert Square, standing over a car with the Queen Vic behind Sonia from EastEnders.

“So I thought it was pretty surreal. I mean, that's pretty much the weirdest introduction to any job anyone could ever have."
