EastEnders Shona McGarty floors fans as she shares second career away from soap

EastEnders actress Shona McGarty has wowed fans after sharing her second career away from the BBC soap.

The soap star, who has played Whitney Dean since 2008, took to Instagram on Monday and revealed she sings as part of a gospel choir named UpMass.

Sharing a snap alongside her fellow choir stars, the 31-year-old told her followers there were "exciting times ahead" for the group.

This was followed by a video of Shona as she took centre stage with the choir and showcased her incredible voice in front of a packed audience.

She recalled: "Throwback to when we brought @upmass07 to @bbceastenders."

Fans were in awe after listening to the actress sing and took to the comments to shower the star with compliments.

"I could listen to you sing all day. That's some voice," gushed one person as another wrote: "Goosebumps! What a voice".

A third exclaimed: "Omg you've got the voice of an angel," as someone else echoed: "It gave me shivers – what a voice!"

Shona's jaw-dropping talent is no secret as she performed at the Royal British Leigon Festival of Remembrance in November last year, truly wowing fans with her stunning rendition of Hallelujah.

Sharing a video of her performance on Instagram, she penned: "Such an honour. A truly humbling experience. We will remember them."

Several of her EastEnders co-stars raced to the comments to gush over her talent, including Stacey Slater actress Lacey Turner who wrote: "Your talent is endless. I love you."

James Farrar, who portrays Zack Hudson, added: “Watched 100 times. So proud G. You look like you felt every second of it. We did."

Former soap star Jacqueline Jossa, who played Lauren Branning for eight years until 2018, shared: "This is so so so special and beautiful.”

Ian Beale star Adam Woodyatt commented: "Stunning. Just stunning. You absolutely smashed it."

"My Life! My heart just stopped. This is incredible. Incredible, Shona," exclaimed Balvinda Sopal who stars as Suki Panesar.
