The Mitchell family has had a particularly difficult time of late, even by their high standards and things for Phil Mitchell (played by Steve McFadden) could be getting even tougher if his cousin Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick) was to be sentenced to a long stint in prison too. Whether it is the scheming of Sam Mitchell (Kim Medcalf) or the dealings with DCI Keeble (Alison Newman), life has been very stressful for the EastEnders businessman, but will a crushing sense of guilt could be added to his issues?

Official BBC spoilers reveal the Mitchells are set for a monumental time, with all members of the clan involved in huge storylines of the BBC soap.

Viewers of the flashback episode would have seen a young Billy and Phil involved in a staged armed robbery conducted by Phil’s dad Eric Mitchell (George Russo).

During the robbery, Eric pulled the trigger on a security guard who turned out to be DCI Keeble’s father.

With the detective looking for justice, it is Billy who is having to take the wrap for the murder, much to the anguish of a guilt-ridden Phil.

As Billy’s court appearance is round the corner, Sam comforts her cousin and provides some moral support.

Billy has sought the help from top Mitchell lawyer Jimmie Broome (Samuel James), to give him a chance of beating the historical case.

But, for Phil to keep to his side of the deal with Keeble, Billy needs to go to prison and Keeble cranks the pressure up on the stressed Mitchell.

With this in mind, a conflicted Phil insists to his legal team led by Richie Scott (Sian Webber) that Jimmie must be taken off the trial.

Meanwhile, Sam bumps into Jonah Tyler (Mark Mooney) who attempts to take back the money she owes him.

When he puts his hand on her arm, brother Phil steps in and smacks Jonah, who then retorts with a chilling warning to his family.

However, the scheming sister is exposed by Shirley Carter (Linda Henry), who tells Phil everything his relative has done behind his back, including lying to Phil about Ben Mitchell’s (Max Bowden) drug use.

It is this betrayal over his son which angers Phil and tips him over the edge, announcing to Sam she’s no longer part of the family and duly kicks her out onto Albert Square.

Meanwhile, Billy is distraught to learn his hopes of escaping prison are dashed as Ritchie informs him they cannot use Jimmie as his lawyer.

Shirley notices some strange behaviour as Phil reacts to the news of the lawyer change and following a conversation with the Walford hard man, she decides to follow up her suspicions.

When DCI Keeble and Phil meet up, an intrigued Shirley finds out something that incriminates Phil. Will she use this as more leverage to blackmail the family again?

Will Phil be able to cope if he sees Billy sent down for a crime he knows he didn’t commit?

Also, Sam’s troubles escalate as Jonah approaches her again for the money, but later on, due to a case of mistaken identity, Jonah’s hired hands rough up a petrified Lola Pearce (Danielle Harold) in Peggy’s, instead of Sam.

Lola is told to open the safe by Jonah’s heavies and after a grapple she escapes and heads onto the dance floor.

What will happen to the club as Lola is accidentally embroiled in Sam’s drama?

Will the police attention in the Mitchell’s club cause even more issues for the family?
