Emmerdale: Charles airs his concerns to Manpreet about Alex
In official spoilers released by ITV, vicar Charles Anderson (played by Kevin Mathurin) could end up leaving Emmerdale in upcoming scenes following the recent death of his father Victor (Eddie Osei).
This follows the departures of Priya Kotecha (Fiona Wade), Marshall Hamston (Max Fletcher), Rishi Sharma (Bhasker Patel), and Dan Spencer (Liam Fox).
While Charles hadn’t been happy about Victor’s return and him wheedling his way back into his mum Claudette’s (Flo Wilson) life, it’s safe to say that he didn’t want things to end the way that they did either.
Charles had never really forgiven his father for making his childhood and Claudette’s life unbearable at times because of his criminal behaviour.
But Claudette was determined to forgive Victor following his 25-year prison sentence.

However, this faith in her ex was tested when Manpreet (Rebecca Sarker) accused Victor of stealing a necklace that Rishi had given her.
And given that Claudette found the necklace in Victor’s pocket, with him fleeing the scene before the police could get there, it looked like he was back to his old ways.
But the truth was, Charles had planted the necklace in Victor’s pocket to frame him and to help his mother see that he hadn’t changed his ways.
Charles also suspected that Victor had been lying about his poor health.

However, when Victor is later found dead at the church, Charles cannot contain his guilt.
Not only did the newcomer not steal the necklace in question but he truly was ill. It turned out that Victor had been suffering from a brain aneurysm.
While Charles wanted Victor out of their lives for good, he certainly didn’t want him to die.
So, instead of admitting the truth to his heartbroken mother, Charles’ guilt only intensifies, leading him to pack his bags and set off on a retreat, with him glad to be getting away from the village.
Earlier this year Charles’ daughter Naomi Walters (Karene Peter) also departed the village to start a new life in Ibiza, leaving her father distraught. But could this just be a temporary trip for Charles?
Fans will need to tune in to see if this exit is for good or whether the vicar will return.
Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
