Emmerdale legend issues warning to fans – and co-stars flood him with support | The Sun

SCAMMERS have been taking advantage of many soap viewers on social media and one star has had enough.

Emmerdale's Mark Charnock issued a warning to his fans and social media followers about fraudulent accounts in his name.

Fraudsters have found a way to get on the wrong side of the actor, known for his portrayal of beloved Woolpack chef, Marlon Dingle.

The Bolton soap star recently jumped on social media after getting wind of a scam using his fame to promote cryptocurrency investments.

Mark shared a picture of a private Instagram account with his name, photo and almost 2,000 followers before letting his fans know that his identity had been used in fake articles and ads to entice people into investing in cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin.

The 54-year-old added a screenshot of a message that had been sent to an oblivious follower in his name, saying: "Hello my beautiful fan. Thanks for the love and support."

Mark received the support of many among his 51,000 followers – including former Emmerdale co-star Danny Miller aka Aaron Dingle.

"So this wasn’t you?", he quipped in an attempt to make light of the situation and Mark responded just as cheekily, alongside several crying laughing emojis: "Don’t make me come over there!!!"

Carly Hope actress Gemma Atkinson – who left the eponymous village in 2017 and who also appeared in Hollyoaks – also chimed in.
