Strictly Come Dancing may have its first contestant for this year’s series, after former Emmerdale star Adam Thomas has said he’ll be taking part in the show.

The actor, 22, previously appeared on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, but doesn’t seem to be done with reality TV yet as he says he’s part of this year’s celebrity line-up.

While rehearsals for the show have yet to begin, the star says he’s already landed himself in the bad books with his wife.

Apparently confirming his participation in the show, Adam told Mail Online: “Bring it all on I love a bit of glitz and glam."

The actor has been married to wife Caroline since 2017 and the pair share two children together called Teddy and Elsie-Rose.

However, he joked about falling victim to the so-called ‘Strictly curse’.

"I was going to say something then, but it might get blown out of context… I just want to experience the Strictly curse!" he said.

"I'm not the best dancer in the world, I wish. Though once I've had a drink, I do believe I'm the best dancer in the world. Sober, it is a completely different story.

"I have never won anything in my life so it would be nice but I'm not necessarily competitive. I try to do my best in anything I sign up to but as cheesy and cliché as it sounds it's about the journey and experience you go through."

Adam’s former Emmerdale co-star Kelvin Fletcher, 38, won the glitterball trophy on the show three years ago.

It comes after Adam previously denied rumours that he would be appearing on the show.

He released a statement to his Instagram Story on Tuesday 17 May, saying: "As much as I'd love this to be true!!… unfortunately it's not haha" with a laughing emoji.

Adam, who is the brother of Coronation Street actor Ryan Thomas, previously played Adam Barton on Emmerdale before he left the soap in January 2018.

The soap star came third as a contestant on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! while he was still acting on Emmerdale.

After leaving the soap in 2018, Adam was then announced as a host on I’m a Celeb’s spin off show Extra Camp in 2019.
