Emmerdale stuns viewers with hint of double exit

Emmerdale has surprised viewers by revealing that two characters are set to depart the village – but don’t worry, it isn’t a permanent exit.

In last night’s (July 26) episode, Tom King (James Chase) headed to his car with a packed bag, and made a comment that he was ready for ‘Venice tomorrow’.

It seems as though he and Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) are jetting off for a romantic getaway, though Suni Sharma (Brahmdeo Shannon Ramana) had other ideas for him.

The newcomer suggested that Tom take Rishi Sharma (Bhasker Patel) along for the ride in order to help mend his broken heart.

Rishi is currently at odds with son Jai Sharma (Chris Bisson), who recently discovered that he was adopted and Rishi is not his real dad.

With Jai set to marry in upcoming episodes, Rishi is desperate to repair the rift between them, but has so far had no luck.

As Suni joked that Belle wouldn’t mind that Rishi is tagging along, he invited himself too, playfully reminding Tom that he is his plus one.

Tom seemed horrified by the idea, insisting that a ‘romantic meal for four’ would be more of a ‘nightmare’ than the dream holiday he had planned.

Tom only recently returned to the Emmerdale village after ten years away, and instantly clashed with uncle Jimmy King (Nick Miles) over the truth surrounding his granddad and namesake’s death.

He was horrified to learn that dad Carl King (Tom Lister) had been the culprit behind Tom King’s murder back in 2006.

After returning to the village, Tom and Belle hit it off almost immediately, and managed to rekindle the relationship they once had.

Speaking about Tom’s return to the village when it was first announced, producer Jane Hudson said: ‘Of course Tom and Belle have a history, which they see each other and rekindle and we will be on a journey with Tom and Belle for quite some time as we play out the story.’

With the pair set to enjoy a romantic holiday together, will it strengthen their relationship, or start to show cracks?
