Following Ricky Butcher (Sid Owen)’s return to EastEnders, romance has been rekindled between him and former lover Sam Mitchell (Kim Medcalf).

It was clear as soon as Ricky set eyes on Sam that he still had a place in his heart for her and the couple have shared some dates. When Ricky branded Sam ‘a loser in love,’ she took his words to heart, knowing that it’s basically true and that Ricky knows her better than almost anyone else.

In coming episodes Sam finds herself with a big decision to make. Is she ready to pledge her future to Ricky, who’s never stopped loving her?

Ricky tells Sonia (Natalie Cassidy) that he’s going back to Germany, where he now lives. He hopes that Sam might come with him, but Sonia warns him that she doesn’t think that’s going to happen.

But when Ricky invites Sam to spend New Year’s Eve with him, he pops the question – is she ready to leave everything in Walford behind and come with him to Germany? It’s a romantic evening and things soon get passionate between the pair. It’s looking very promising for Ricky as it’s clear that Sam still has strong feelings for him, too.

But when Ricky pops out, Sam gets a text from Phil (Steve McFadden). He says he wants to fix their relationship and get the family back on track.

As Ricky waits for an answer from Sam, what will she decide?
