Emotional exit for Daryan in Corrie as he leaves on a personal mission

Last October, we met a teenager called Daryan (Twana Omer), an Iranian refugee who was being helped by Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon) in Coronation Street.

Initially, Daryan’s arrival simply saw Max (Paddy Bever) grow jealous because he had taken his place at Weatherfield High, but it eventually led into the ITV soap’s extremism storyline.

As Griff (Michael Condron) manipulated and groomed Max, the teen began to look down on Daryan, telling him that he didn’t belong in the country and that he was getting special treatment at Speed Daal because of his race.

Recently, the plot reached a conclusion when Blake (Adam Little) stabbed Alya (Sair Khan) in the restaurant.

This led to Blake and Max being arrested and now, with hope on the horizon for Daryan, it becomes apparent he needs Maria and Gary’s (Mikey North) help.

This is because Daryan discovers his brother is living somewhere in Nottingham, but doesn’t know where and cannot contact him.

After Gary and Maria provide money for him, Daryan announces that his social worker is taking him to Nottingham to try and find his brother.

Gary, Maria, Nina (Mollie Gallagher) and Evelyn (Maureen Lipman) wave Daryan off as he heads for his train – a firm reminder that love and kindness always wins.
