Father Brown season 10 came to an end at the beginning of March with Chief Inspector Sullivan (played by Tom Chambers) being at the centre of the investigation. Mark Williams plays loveable vicar Father Brown who was joined by Mrs Devine (Claudie Blakley) to help with his investigations into murders around the town. Claudie recently opened up on arriving on the set and feared she may have caused “upset”.

When discussing what it was like for the series to turn up to the Cotswolds, Claudie revealed everyone “loved it”.

She explained: “It really was [welcoming]. All the people in the Cotswolds are such fans of the show. They really wanted Father Brown there.

“You don’t ever want to ever to turn up as a film unit and cause people to be upset. But everyone was out watching the filming, and everyone loved it.”

Claudie revealed she “loved” playing Mrs Devine, as she quipped: “Oh my gosh, I’ve loved playing her so much.

“It’s just such fun to play a character who’s really sunny and happy. She’s always looking on the bright side. She’s up for everything. She’s outspoken.”

Father Brown has become a fan favourite over the years because of his keen eye to solve a murder and knowing how to take down the culprits.

Actor Mark Williams previously explained what he thought the qualities were that made Father Brown such a good detective.

He admitted: “Endless curiosity. Everything matters. It’s Miss Marple, I think, who says the details that other people don’t think are important are the details that she does.

“And that’s the point about Father Brown. He’s a differently motivated character to most detectives, where it’s an intellectual problem-solving thing. He’s dealing with people’s souls because he’s a man of faith.

“For him, it’s about respect for humanity. The respect he believes humanity should have for itself is very, very important to him.

“And what’s disappointing to him is when people let him down and don’t have that.”

When asked if Mrs Devine was a talented “sleuth”, Claudie explained her character was a “natural”.

“I think that’s why Father Brown just lets her get on with it because they complement each other well.

“At first, Mrs Devine doesn’t get the job as his parish secretary. But then, of course, a murder takes place, and she starts finding clues and working it out.”

Despite the series coming to an end, Claudie recently confirmed there will be another so viewers can get their Father Brown fix.

She told Express.co.uk: “Fortunately, there is a season 11. Phew, I didn’t mess it up! My hopes going forward for Mrs Devine is for much more of the same to be honest.”

Father Brown series 1-10 is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
