Gogglebox favourites Stephen and Daniel quit after 10 years to explore life

Gogglebox's Stephen and Daniel have confirmed they're leaving the Channel 4 show.

Stephen first signed onto the fan-favourite series in 2013 when the show first started, but the pair have since opted to leave the cameras behind and head for pastures new.

Studio Lambert and Channel 4 said: "After a brilliant and illustrious time on Gogglebox, Stephen and Daniel have decided that now is the right time to explore life beyond the sofa and leave the show.

"As one of the original Goggleboxers, Stephen has entertained the nation with his hilarious quips since the show first started in 2013, sharing his opinions on the best and biggest TV events of the last ten years.

"We would like to thank him and Daniel for being utterly brilliant contributors to the show, and we wish them well with their future projects."

Stephen issued a statement on Instagram as he added: "We feel the time is right to move on and explore other opportunities," adding they're "extremely thankful to the cast and crew" and their fans for their support.

In the caption, Stephen wrote: "After an incredible 10 years…" Meanwhile Daniel shared the same statement and said: "What a ride it's been. Big love."

Fans immediately rushed to the comment section to share their thoughts over the sad news.

One user wrote: "Aww totally gutted. You are by far the best couple on there, you'll be missed. However good luck in your future ventures."

While another said: "No way! You two are brilliant. I'm gutted."

A third person wrote: "Aw that's such sad news. You'll both be missed. All the best for the future."

Stephen is one of the longest-standing members of Gogglebox, but Daniel joined him a little bit later and became his third partner to appear on the show with.

He first appeared on the show with Chris Ashby-Steed, but in 2018 Chris left the show after the pair split, and Stephen brought his mum Pat in.

Shortly after, Stephen was joined by his now-husband Daniel Lustig-Webb, and the pair since became fan-favourites.

Gogglebox is returning for a brand new series on Friday (September 8) at 9pm on Channel 4.
