Gogglebox fans hid behind their hands as the cast of the Channel 4 show were subject to a peculiar sex scene.

The cast were shown clips from one of David Attenborough's wildlife documentaries, which showed two slugs in the process of mating.

Helena, from the Worthington family was "disgusted" as she explained that she couldn't watch the scenes while sat with her mum and dad.

"I don’t want to see protruding penises with my mother and father," she squealed as David explained how the creatures perform the act.

Fans online were just as grossed out by the encounter, with one writing: "Something I never thought I’d see but here we are!"

Another viewer put: "The slugs becoming intimate," followed by a vomiting emoji.

"Oh no I don't need to watch this slug thing again," a third commented.

David went on to explain that the slugs, which can be found in the UK and are about 30cm long, are hermaphrodites and therefore have both male and female genitals.

The Gogglebox cast were then treated to special viewing of the two slugs' penises as they had intercourse.

"These slug's are Hung like horse's," one viewer wrote as David said that their genitals can stretch to the same length as their bodies.

"Never in my life did I think I’d see a slug’s twisting c**k," a second stated.

Elsewhere in the episode, the crew were shown a clip from This Morning's episode on St Patrick's Day when 90s girl band B*witched performed their hit song C'est La Vie.

While the rest of the cast appeared to enjoy the throwback track, Giles and Mary weren't too impressed as they recalled their time in the 90s.

"We didn't listen to all of that Pop music," Giles said and Mary candidly replied: "We slightly missed out because we wouldn't take ecstasy."
